Sunrises and Rainbows

A pilgrim cafe near our hostel opened at 6:00 am, so we enjoyed some coffee before heading out of town in the dark at 7:00am. It's a bit challenging to see the yellow arrows and scallop shells in the dark. We followed the Main Street and the dark blobs of fellow pilgrims in hopes we were all heading in the correct direction. Before too long, the sky began to brighten and it was easier to see our way. We kept turning around to see the sunrise because it was very dramatic with the clouds.

For most of the day, the path wound through spectacular vineyards surrounded by distant hills. An amazing wide rainbow arced down towards the church in the town in front of us. We stopped countless times to take it all in and snap some photos. The temperature was perfect with a light breeze. It could not have been more wonderful!

Later in the morning the rain briefly caught up with us, just enough so that we pulled out our rain jackets. After about 10 minutes the rain stopped and we quickly shed the extra layers.
