Countryside

Lacoste to Figeac
21km

Today was mostly a nice ramble through the French countryside to the picturesque old, but busy, city of Figeac. About 5 km before Figeac, after having had the trail totally to ourselves all day, Oliver from Germany popped up out of nowhere in front of us. He is trying to hitchhike from Figeac to Moissac where he will work in a gite for the rest of September.

We had a little trouble locating our gite again but eventually found it. It isn't open until 3:30, so we went next door to the bar/restaurant and had the plat du jour which was a yummy Coucous dish with a variety of meats and vegetables. Then we said our goodbyes to Oliver saying we hope to see him when we get to Moissac.

The tourist office was our next stop in order to find out about taking the train tomorrow on a detour to Rocamadour to see the cliffhanger monastery. I'm currently taking advantage of the free wifi at the tourist office before exploring the rest of the town.
